Registration

Introduction

As an individual, there are several reasons that may prompt you to register your car, camper or motorcycle in Luxembourg. We will present the advantages here in case you already own a vehicle.

Why register my car in Luxembourg?

Very affordable road tax

The only tax perceived in Luxembourg in the automotive field is the road tax. This tax is perceived by the Customs and Excise. Payment is found by a vignette. There is no obligation to include the vignette on the windscreen. However, it must be immediately presented at a police or customs control.
It is calculated based on the CO2 emission of the vehicle in g/km for all vehicles that have been put into service for the first time after 1 January 2001. For earlier vehicles, the fee is based on the engine capacity of the vehicle. The fiscal power of the vehicle intervenes no longer in the calculation, it is thus observed that the tax remains extremely reasonable. The trailers towed by a motor vehicle are also subject to the road tax.

Discretion tax

Whether in France or Belgium, have a large engine capacity car or a luxury car draws accusing eyes. In France, at the acquisition of a vehicle that has over 16 CV, information is transmitted to the Treasury by the prefecture issuing registration cards. Certainly, in most cases, there is nothing to hide. However, it is still unpleasant to see an administration put the nose in your bank accounts, your tax declarations, your social security contributions etc...
This is why many clients use our services to register their sports car in Luxembourg.

No TMC or TR (Belgium)

In Belgium, there is a tax Getting Traffic (TMC) on every new vehicle registered in the country. This tax, depending on the vehicle's power is up to 5,000 euros. This tax does not exist in Luxembourg.
Then, every year, the Belgians must pay the Rolling tax (TR) also called Circulation tax (TC). This fee is equivalent to the circulation tax in Luxembourg. However, the tax rate is different because we can see differences of more than 3,000 euros on certain vehicle and that every year…
